The teen 326 group was established to engage teens ages 12 to 16 to enhance a forward-thinking mindset as they transition from adolescent to adulthood. We are excited with our plan to implement this new model of leadership and volunteerism, while your youth are learning and developing as adolescents, we desired to provide a cultivating and heartening environment where teens can enhance your socialization skills as well as develop job readiness.

The 21st-century skills are a set of abilities that students need to develop in order to succeed in the information age. Teen 326 Achieving Leaders Academy was created for those teens interested initially volunteering with H & S.  While we wanted to respect their desire to assist, we felt the group needed to develop, learn and establish skills, training, and appropriate practices during their time at H & S.  Therefore, we decided to focus on the following areas with this age group; civil engagement, positive work ethic, job readiness, mentoring, life skills, Team building, literacy skills, learning skills which include critical thinking, creative thinking, collaborating, communicating. We will also discuss resolution strategies on the development and establish good character and enhanced social skills. These skill sets and learnings are in place for youth to develop into better life learners and viable productive citizens in their communities.

During the summer months,  middle school and High school students, will be matched one-to-one with an elementary camper as well as assigned to a group where youth will volunteer as the (TGL) Teen Group Leader for at least 3 hrs. per day. They will spend one hour a week with your Little Buddy during the camp week – play board games, sports, or just hang out. It’s a great way to gain new skills and more importantly, an awesome way to have fun! With a Little Buddy, you get to play games, sports and try cool activities at their elementary school. This allows a young child to build a friendship with a caring Leader/volunteer as we try to foster positive relationships between younger and older youth.

The purpose of this discussion guide is to create an opportunity for teens and adults to talk together and find ways to make our community a place where young people can grow up successfully. Most public issues involve and affect young people as well as adults. But there if often little chance in most communities for all of us to work together on community problems in a positive and respectful way. Listed below are the primary subject areas we will focus on daily over the 6 weeks:

  • Team Building

  • Civic Engagement

  • Character Education

  • Interview Skills/job readiness

  • Problem solving

  • Oral Communications

  • Volunteerism

Presently the Teen 326 Achieving Leaders Acadamy meets after school with youth in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades; Three days a week at Cassidy School; Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm.

Thank you again for your interest in the Teen 326 Achieving Leaders Academy we look forward to working together for your child to reach their fullest potential in this summer initiative and experience. Call 215-644-9628 for more information.
