What is H & S Learning Center Cooperative?

Reestablish itself corporately as the “H & S Learning Center Cooperative” with Annette M. Atkins as its Director of programs and LaKeisha Stokes Solomon, Executive Director in the fall of 2014. This change and decision were ratified by its new Board in November 2014. The Concept of the non-sectarian cooperative is to connect all parties involve with the “whole child” development, particularly the nexus of Home, School, community in an after-school setting, With our new location at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, H & S learning Center Cooperative is an autonomous association of families united voluntarily to meet they are common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations in an out of school time learning environment. We are a non-profit organization with the best model in the business world is a democracy as a cooperative.

Another feature of our Cooperative is that the Parents of the children serve automatically become members of the Cooperative. Membership, in this case, means more than carrying a card. It also means having a voice. Our parents help with picking field trip activities, with fund raising, chaperoning and are entitled to vote at our General Meetings, Member Elections and other matters relating to the governance of our business. Membership is not just limited to Parents. Anyone who has a desire to help support our children in their educational pursuits and with leadership development is welcomed to be a parent of our Cooperative.
